The SIMI, Salon International de la Musique et de l’Instrument, has been thought of and realised in order to give a didactic, craftmanship, artistic and festive approach to the element of music in the Alsace region where a European spirit fuels the cultural life.

Alsace has always had a very close relationship with music: over 25 music festivals are held there every year. It also has a higher number of musical associations than any other French region. Around a thousand musical groups are officially listed today by the government's musical offices in the two departments of the Upper Rhine Valley clearly indicating that music is growing trend here.
The city of Colmar is ideally located at the heart of the Alsace region and enjoys a significant cultural and artistic envirement - making it the perfect location to host the SIMI, which will prove to be an preeminating international event. Colmar already hosts two major events: the "Festival International de Colmar" (International Colmar Festival) for which the artistic director is Vladimir Spivakov and the "Festival de la Foire aux Vins d'Alsace" (Alsace Wine Festival), host to 85.000 visitors and the great names of French and international Rock- and Popstars.
Our company, Colmar Expo, has gained strong expertise in organising these international conventions and we are now planning to build on that experience to further develop the company by organising this new convention.
